Loys Cate

Loys Cate, 72, of Piggott died Thursday, August 7, 2003, in the VA Hospital in Memphis, TN.
 
He was born February 28, 1931, in Clay County, the son of the late Norris and Arietta Crawford Cate.
 
He was united in marriage to Zilla Mae Goodman on June 24, 1950, in Piggott.
 
Mr. Cate spent most of his life in the Piggott community. He worked as an electrician and a Missionary Baptist minister. He was an Army veteran. Many chil­dren in the town of Piggott re­ferred to him as grandfather.
 
He was preceded in death by both of his parents and one son, Mark Cate who preceded him in death on December 13, 1991.
 
He is survived by his wife, Zilla Mae Cate of the home; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Nathan and Edna Cate of Win­chester, VA, Norris and Debbie Cate of Scott, AR, Royce Cate of Piggott, Boyce and Emma Cate of Paragould, AR, and Douglas Cate of Bradenton, FL; three daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Rex Smart of Piggott, Yvonne and Ronnie Settlemoir of Piggott and Rhonda and Pete Nikalisen of St. Louis; two brothers, Granville Cate and Carl Cate of Walnut Ridge; one sister, Joyce Brawner of Piggott; 20 grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.
 
Burial in the Piggott Cemetery, Piggott, AR.

 Margie Bradberry Welty Cate

Margie Bradberry Cate, 84, of Rector died Saturday, August 20, 2005, in the Paragould Nursing Center in Paragould.
 
She was born July 20, 1921, in Pollard, the daughter of the late Jesse and Maybell Allen Welty.
 
She was united in marriage to Carl Bradberry, he preceded her in death. She married Love Cate and he also preceded her in death.
 
She was a member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Rector.
 
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Wells and Virginia Welty; and two brothers, Ira Welty and Eual Welty.
 
She is survived by one son, Carl Bradberry and wife, Melba, of Roscoe, IL; one granddaughter, Danita Hall and husband, Scott, of Sussex, WI; two great-grand­daughters, Kaleigh and Melanie; and other relatives and friends.
 
Burial in the New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, AR.

Christine Beard Cates

Christine Cates, 96, of Farmington, MO, died Sunday, February 8, 2004, at Mineral Area Re­gional Medical Center in Farmington.
 
She was born February 3, 1908, in Pocahontas, AR,  the daughter of the late John and Eva Hampton Beard.
 
She was united in marriage to James Frank Cates. He preceded her in death on Apri14, 1981.
 
Mrs. Cates loved to garden, paint, cook and crochet. She was an avid reader of the Bible and western novels and loved her grandchildren. She was a home­maker and was of the Baptist faith.
 
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Roy Cates and John Cates; a granddaughter, Tammy Jean Cates; and one daughter-in-law, Mazie Cates.
 
She is survived by one daugh­ter, Gloria Kimball and her hus­band, Steward, of Farmington; four grandsons, Danny Cates and his wife, Brenda, Mark Kimball and his wife, Cathy, Keith Kimball and his wife, Carol, and Kyle Kimball and his wife, Ellen; three granddaughters, Hassie, Vicky and Joyce; and several great-grandchildren.
 
Burial in Hite Cemetery in Biggers, AR.

 Geneva Marie Maples Arnold Cates

Geneva Marie Cates, 81, of Campbell died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 200 1, at the General Baptist Nurs­ing Home in Campbell, MO.
 
She was born October 29, 1919, in Pollard, the daughter of the late Thomas William and Sylvia Alice Adami Maples.
 
She was first married to Horace Allen Arnold on June 6, 1940, in Kennett, MO. He preceded her in death on August 8, 1964.
 
She later married Joseph Lafayette Cates on January 4, 1969, in Campbell.  He preceded her in death on May 30,1997.
 
She was also preceded in death by on son, Carlose Allen Arnold in 1966; two brothers, Melvin Riley Maples and Cletis Eugene Maples; one sister, Alberta Lee; and one step-daughter, Juey Davidson.

She was a member of Rebekah Lodge 845 in Campbell and of the Campbell General Baptist Church.
 
She is survived by two neph­ews, Jerry Maples of Poplar Bluff and William Maples of Wappapello, MO; one niece, Mary Maples of Poplar Bluff; five step-daughters, Francis Bankston of San Antonio, TX,  Evelyn Allen and Myrna Noble of Malden, MO, Agnes Allen of Clarkton, MO, and Kathryn Nichols of Qulin, MO; two step-sons, Russell Cates of House Springs, MO, and Lewis Cates of Campbell; several step-grandchildren; and step-­great-grandchildren.
 
Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery near Clarkton, MO.
