Carl S. Duckworth

Carl. S. Duckworth, 70, of Wal­nut Ridge died Monday, September 3, 2001, at the Regional Medical in Jonesboro following a sudden ill­ness.

 

He was born January 6,1931, in Pollard, the son of the late Doc Duckworth and Zelma Grider Duckworth Mayo.

 

He married Helen Marie Fish on July 31, 1953.

 

He was also preceded in death by a step-father, Ezra Mayo, and a brother, Lester Mayo.

 

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a former field representative of the IBM Corpo­ration.

 

He was past president of the Walnut Ridge Kiwanis Club, a past Lawrence County Quorum Court justice, past president of the Lawrence County Amateur Radio Club, and past member of the Amateur Radio Relay League.

 

He was the former co-owner of the Otasco store in Walnut Ridge and was owner of the Lawrence County Service Center. He was of the Baptist belief.

 

He is survived by his wife, Helen Marie; two daughters, Marie Gates of Pocahontas and Paula Decker of Hoxie; three sons, Stan Duckworth and Roger Duckworth of Walnut Ridge and Ralph Duckworth of Jakarta, Indonesia; two brothers, Dr. Hillard Duckworth and Bill Mayo of Piggott; two sisters, Josie Bran­don of Piggott and Pansy Gross, of Jonesboro; 10 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

 

Burial was in Lawrence Memo­rial Park.

Edith Olivia Speakes Duckworth 

Edith Olivia Duckworth, 81, of Jonesboro, formerly of Greenway, died Friday, March 21, 2003, in the St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.
 
She was born June 29, 1921, in Monette, AR, the daughter of the late Harvey and Ethel Owen Speakes.
 
She was united in marriage to James "J.D." Duckworth on Oc­tober 28, 1942. To this union two children were born.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Duckworth on Oct. 3, 2002, and one sister, Edna Jo Goldsmith.
 
She is survived by one son, Carroll Duckworth and wife, Eva, of Jonesboro; one daughter, Kathy Groth and husband, Carl, of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Mark Duckworth of Jonesboro, Craig Duckworth and wife, Heather, of St. Charles, MO, Renee Scheffler of Savan­nah, GA, and Brian Duckworth of Jackson, MS; three great­grandchildren, Kilby Scheffler, Emma Duckworth and Noah Duckworth; and many other rela­tives and friends.
 
Burial in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.

James "J.D." Duckworth

James "J.D." Duckworth, 78, of Jonesboro, formerly of Greenway, died Thursday, October 3, 2002, in Jonesboro.
 
He was born October 28, 1923, in Rector, the son of the late David and Elizabeth Adams Duckworth. He was united in marriage to, Edith Speakes on October 28, 1942. To this union two children were born.
 
One brother, Paul Duckworth, preceded him in death.
 
He is survived by his wife, Edith, of Jonesboro; one son Carroll Duckworth and wife, Eva, of Jonesboro; one daughter, Kathy Groth and husband, Carl, of Houston; four grandchildren, Mark Duckworth of Jonesboro, Craig Duckworth and wife, Heather, of St. Charles, MO, Renee Scheffler of Savannah, and Brian Duckworth of Jackson, MS; three great-grandchildren, Kilby Scheffler, Emma Duckworth and Noah Duckworth; one brother, Jewel Duckworth of Mesa, AZ; and a host of other relatives and friends.
 
Burial in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.

Paul Byron Duckworth 

Paul Byron Duckworth, age 65, of Island Park, ID, died August 11, 2000, in Island Park.

 

He was born December 19, 1934, to the late David and Lizzie Adams Duckworth.

 

He was an appliance repairman and a member of the Baptist faith.

 

He is survived by his wife, Frances McFall Duckworth of the home; two brothers, J.D. Duckworth of Greenway and Jewel Duckworth of Mesa, AZ; one son, Jesse Duckworth of Ocala, FL; one daughter, Rita Delf of Pinckney, MI; three grandchildren, Kevin Delf, Kim­berly Delf and Ronda Jones; and one great-grandchild, Taylor Skover.

 

Burial in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.
