Alma L. (Crews) Holifield

 Alma L. Holifield, 78, of Pollard, AR, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, AR.

She was born March 7, 1923, in Pollard, the daughter of the late Arthur and Louisa Morgan Crews.  She married Melvin Holifield on October 7, 1939.  To this union two sons were born.

She is survived by her husband, Melvin; two sons, Mitchell Holifield of Jonesboro, AR and Jerry Holifield of Calico Rock, AR; four grandchildren, Regina Hendrickson of St. Louis, MO, Neil Holifield of DeSoto, MO, Carrie Hatton of Dexter, MO,  and April Holifield of Memphis, TN; six great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason, Jerry, Jordan, Ian and Griffin; two sisters, Thelma Johnson of Piggott and Agnes Atkison of White Lake, MI; one brother, Howard Crews of Piggott; and other relatives and friends.

Burial in New Hope Cemetery, Pollard, AR.

Ardell "Art" Holifield

Ardell "Art" Holifield, 83, of Piggott died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, in the Piggott Community Hospital.

He was born November 3, 1921, in Pollard, AR, the son of the late James Monroe and Carrie Vagle Vaughn Holifield.

He was united in marriage to Martha AD Parrish on May 15, 1953.  She preceded him in death on June 20, 2003.

He served in the US Navy during WWII on the USS Hamilton.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd Holifield, Homer Holifield, and Charles Sherraden.

He is survived by one son, John Hogard and wife, Marsha, of West Memphis, AR; one grandson, Terry Hogard and wife Wanda, of Paragould, AR; one granddaughter, Michelle Malone and husband Brian, of Jonesboro; two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Daniel; one brother, Melvin Holifield of Pollard; two sisters, Alma Mae Blake of Piggott and Betty Jean Whrolen of Dardanelle, AR; and other relatives and friends.

Burial in Piggott Cemetery.

 Cord E. Holifield

Cord E. Holifield, son of Bascomb and Matilda Holifield, was born near Boydsville, AR, July 3, 1886.

He was united in marriage to Etta Burkhead and to this union six children were born.  one son preceded him in death.

He passed away June 21, 1945 at the age of 58 years, 11 months and 17 days.  He leaves to mourn his going, his wife Etta Holifield and children Lola Parrish and husband Bryan of Detroit, MI, Guilford Holifield of Boydsville, Almarea Copeland and husband Melvin of Rector, AR, Eva Bradberry and husband Taft, Raymond Holifield, fifteen grandchildren, three brothers, five sisters and a host of other relatives and friends.

Burial in Mars Hill Cemetery, Clay County, AR.

James Lloyd Holifield

James Lloyd Holifield, 90, of Pollard, AR died Wednesday, November 25, 1998 at his home.

Born April 15, 1908 in St. Francis, AR, he was the son of the late James Monroe and Lola Williams Holifield.

On December 10, 1949, he was united in marriage to Pauline Thompson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Homer Holifield.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Holifield of Pollard; one son, James G. Holifield of Paragould; one grandson, Todd Holifield of Louisville, KY; three brothers, Melvin Holifield of Pollard and Ardell Holifield and Charles Sherraden, both of Piggott; two sisters, Alma Mae Blake of Piggott and Betty Whrolen of Pollard; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Burial in Cummins Chapel Cemetery, Pollard, AR.

Junior Leon Holifield

Junior Lee Holifield, 61, of Kennett, MO, died Friday, December 13, 2002 at NHC Healthcare in Kennett.

He was born June 6, 1941, in Kennett, the son of the late Odis and Audry Louise Gargus Holifield.  He was a member of the Church of Christ of Kennett.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Holifield.

He is survived by two sisters, Vikki Gipson of Piggott and Wanda Holifield of Dupo, IL; one aunt, Jean Nixon of Kennett; one niece, Shawna Stone of Piggott; three nephews, Derek Tune of Kennett, Jeff Plunkett of Columbia, IL, and Lee Ann Chartran of Dupo, IL; and many other relatives and friends.

Burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett, MO

Martha A.D. (Parrish) Holifield

Martha A.D. Holifield, 80, of Piggott died Friday, June 20, 2003 in the Piggott Nursing Center in Piggott. 

She was born December 10, 1922 in McDougal, AR, the daughter of the late James Claude and Hettie Lou Carpenter Parrish.

She was united in marriage to Art Holifield on May 15, 1953.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Coy L. Parrish, and one sister, Decima Munger.

She is survived by her husband, Art Holifield, of Piggott; one son, John Hogard and wife, Marsh, of West Memphis, AR, one grandson, Terry and fiancee, Wanda, of Paragould; one granddaughter, Michelle Malone and husband Brian, of Jonesboro, AR;  two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Daniel; and other relatives and friends.

Burial in Piggott Cemetery.

Pauline Maudie (Thompson) Holifield

Pauline Maudie Holifield, 82, of Pollard, died Saturday, January 6, 2001, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, AR.

She was born March 26, 1918, in Nimmons, AR, the daughter of the late Will and Nannie Thompson.

She married James Lloyd Holifield on December 10, 1949.  He preceded her in death in 1998.

She is survived by a step-son, Jerry Holifield of Paragould; one step-grandson, Todd Holifield; very special friends, Betty and Ted Conyers of Pollard; and other relatives and friends.

Vadala Jane (Johnson) Holifield

Vadala Jane Holifield, 79, of Pollard died Thursday, November 16, 2000 at the Randolph County Medical Center in Pocahontas, AR.

She was born May 7, 1921, in Pollard, AR, the daughter of the late Elmer Lee and Beatrice Rose Hogard Johnson.

She married Eugie Alvin Holifield on June 10, 1940.  To this union three children were born.

She was preceded in death by her husband on May 10, 1989.

She was a lifelong member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Pollard.

She is survived by two sons, Mike Holifield of Kennett, MO and Jack Holifield and wife, Diana, of Piggott; one daughter, Kay Howell and husband, Johnny, of Pollard; six grandchildren, Mark, James, and John Howell, Teresa Howell May, and Brad and Laura Holifield; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Josephine Oliver of Cathey's Valley, CA; one uncle, Ira Johnson and wife Lucille; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Vernetta (Tinsley) Holifield

Vernetta Holifield, 61, of Corning, AR, died Tuesday, October 10, 2006.

She was born February 19, 1945, in McDougal, AR, to Cletus Doyle Tinsley and Nettie Laverne (Miller) Tinsley.  Miss Holifield was a CNA and a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, a daughter, Kimberly Nixon and a brother, Dale Tinsley.

She is survived by one son, Jeffrey Nixon of Corning, a daughter, Kendra Duncan of Corning; her mother, Nettie Tinsley of Piggott; five brothers, Gary Tinsley of Greenway, AR, Charles Tinsley of Paragould, AR, Gerald Tinsley of Greenway, AR, Reginald Tinsley of Doniphan, MO and Dennis Tinsley of Hayti, MO; and 4 grandchildren.

Burial in Mitchell Cemetery, near Greenway, AR.

William Edward Holifield

William Edward Holifield, six months old son of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Holifield of Rector, AR, died at a Paragould Hospital Tuesday morning. (Ed. note...This was from February, 1951, but there were no exact dates in the obit.)

He is survived by his parents, one sister, Elizabeth Anne; one brother, Stewart, Jr.,: his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edd Holifield and his maternal grandfather, Ott Elsass of Rector, AR.

Burial in Woodland Heights Cemetery, Rector, AR.
