Billie Mann Bucy

 Billie Mann Bucy, 76, of Henderson, TN, formerly of Buchanan, TN, died Sunday, March 17, 2002, at West Tennes­see Skilled Nursing Center in Jackson, TN.

 She was born Aug. 4, 1925, in Nimmons, AR, the daughter of the late Everett and Artie French Mann.
 
She married Brent H. Bucy in 1944. He preceded her in death on January 25,1968.
 
She was a former clerk for an antique store in Hazel, KY, and was also a former employee of Clippard Paint and Jim Adams, both in Paris, TN. She was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ.
 
She was preceded in death by a sister, Valesta "Tina" Smith, and her daughter-in-law and grand­children, Ann Bucy, Michael Bucy and Sherry Qualls, who died in an auto accident.
 
She is survived by two sons, Terry Bucy and wife, Nancy of Henderson and Thomas Bucy and wife, Jill Brogden-Bucy, of Chattanooga, TN; two sisters, Frankie Towne and husband, Jack, of NM and Jane Cote of Piggott; four brothers, Henry "Bud" Mann and wife, Cathy. and Adon Mann and wife, Ina Rae, all of Cape Girardeau, Eugene Mann and wife, Jan Lea, of Piggott, and Bob "BJ." Mann and wife, Sonnie. of Ft. Smith, AR; three grandchildren, Shandra Burnette and husband, Adam, of Chattanooga, Artie Marie Bucy of Henderson and Gina Bucy of Murfreesboro, TN; special friends, Billy and Elwanda Steelman of Henderson; and daughter-in-law, Mary Bucy of Signal Mountain, TN.
 
Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery in Buchanan, TN.

Catherine Elizabeth Bahm Budwit

Catherine Elizabeth Budwit, 76, of Adrian, MI, died Monday, March 11, 2002, at Lenawee Medi­cal Care Facility.
 
She was born December 4, 1925, in Adrian, the daughter of the late Clayton and Corilla Haynes Bahm.
 
She has been employed by Peer­less Gear for 20 years, retiring in 1984.
 
She was preceded in death by her son, Gary Budwit, and her brother, Glenwood Bahm.
 
She is survived by three daugh­ters, Mary Hemphill and husband, Rick, and Patricia Bell and hus­band, Durbin, all of Piggott, and Christine Rymers and husband, Edward, of Adrian; her son, Steven Bud:Vit of Milan, Mich.; her step-brother, Benjamin Godomsky of Adrian; her step­sister, Helen Johnson of Adrian; six grandchildren, Brandi Johnson, Dustin Sexton, Marlaina Berry, Katie Rymers, Joshua Budwit, and Stephen Budwit; and six great-grandchil­dren, Brianna, Samuel, Breanna, Megan, Tyler and Kimberly.
 
Burial of cremains will be in the Lewanee Hills Memorial Park in Adrian, MI.

Virgil Buffington

Virgil Buffington, 78, of Silver City, NM, died at his home on Wednesday, March 10,2004, after an extended illness.

 

Mr. Buffington was born September 7, 1925, in Success, AR, the son of Benjamin Floyd and Maud Jane Daniels Buffington. He grew up in the community of Palatka, AR.

 

He married Ann Hill of Piggott on June 12, 1949. They were mar­ried in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edd Hill, the parents of the bride, by Bro. Sam Pillow.

 

Mr. Buffington served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked in the construction industry for many years. He moved his family to Lovington, NM, in 1954 where he contin­ued to work in the construction industry until he moved to Silver City in 1967.

 

He worked for Silver Vista Corporation as a general contractor, building homes in Linda Vista subdivision. He went to work for Phelps Dodge Copper Mine in Tyrone in l968 and worked there until his retirement in 1993.

 

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Silver City since 1968. He professed faith in Jesus as his Savior at age 23. He had a deep and abiding faith that was with him until he went home to be with the Lord. He was a loving husband and father and will be missed so very much by family, relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.

 

He is survived by his wife or 54 years, Ann; two sons, Kelly Buffington and Keith Buffington of Silver City; one grandson; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Erma Galeener.

 

Burial of the cremains in Ft. Bayard National Cemetery.

 

Rev. Leonard Bunch

 Rev. Leonard Bunch, 74, of Black Oak, AR, died Sunday, April 4, 2004, at the Veterans Administra­tion Hospital in Memphis, TN.

He was born in Black Oak, but lived in Jonesboro, AR,  most of his life. He also lived in Piggott before moving back to Black Oak four years ago.
 
He was a long -time Baptist min­ister who founded and pastored several Baptist churches in North­east Arkansas. He was also a re­tired salesman and a member of the New Hope-Black Oak Baptist Church near Caraway, AR.
 
Rev. Bunch was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
 
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Bunch; a brother, M.G. Bunch; and his par­ents, Charlie and Myrtle McHalffey Bunch.
 
He is survived by his wife, Annette J. Bunch of the home; two sons, Lynn Bunch of Little Rock and Tim Bunch of Jonesboro; one daughter, Sherri Gray of Paragould, AR; three step-­daughters, Carla Swan of Bay, AR, Janie Ellis of Searcy, AR, and Cindy Adams of Russellville; two step­sons, Darrell Jones of Kensett and Ricky Jones of Harrisburg, AR; one sister, Inez Weaver of Shreveport, LA; one brother, Monroe Bunch of Jonesboro; four grandchildren, Carson Bunch, Stephanie Gray, Justin Gray and Branddon Gray; and three great-grandchildren.

Anna Jean Brawner Burchett

Anna Jean Birchett, 61, of Wichita, KS, a Bank of America IRA specialist, died Sun­day, September 3, 2000, in Wichita.

She is survived by her hus­band, Garry; sons, Michael of Florrisant, MO, and Steve of Pace, FL; her parents. Truman and Mary Lee Brawner of Piggott; a brother, Robert Brawner of Piggott; a sister, Phyllis Newman of St. Louis; and three grandchildren.

Bennie R. Burdin

Bennie R. Burdin, 93, of Piggott, formerly of Rector, died Tuesday, August 26, 2003, at the Piggott Com­munity Hospital in Piggott.

 

He was born September 21,1909, in Butler County, KY, the son of the late John T. and Artilla Aldridge Burdin.

 

He was united in marriage to Lena Lee Berry on September 9,1928. She preceded him in death on August 23,1989.

 

Mr. Burdin was also preceded in death by on son, James Edward Burdin; three daughters, Deloris and Bessie Jane Burdin and Beatrice Stevenson; three grand­children, Bobby James, Dallas George Burdin and Bennie Cleve­land Schmitt; four brothers, Wes, Garrett, Zennie and Estel Burdin and two sisters, Lou Dunlap and Janie Burden.

 

He is survived by four sons, Hughey Burdin of DeSoto, MO, Alvie Burdin of Piggott, Rollen Burdin of Piggott and Vic Burdin of Festus, MO; one daughter, Ruby Schmitt of Piggott; one sis­ter-in-law, Evelyn Burdin of Pop­lar Bluff, MO; 14 grandchildren; and several great and great-great grandchildren.

Sherla Faye Brandt Burdin

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 10, 1974 at 3:00 p.m. at Whites Funeral Home Chapel, Fisk, MO for Mrs. Sher­la Faye Burdin of Fes­tus, MO. Mrs. Burdin was a registered school nurse for the Jefferson County R- 7 school at Festus. She died March 8 at the Jefferson Mem­orial Hospital in Festus.

 

Sherla Faye was born January 29, 1940 at Broseley, MO. On November 23, 1967 she was united in marriage to Vie Bur­din. She was a member of Elk General Baptist Church at Broseley.

 

She is survived by her husband, Vie; by two fos­ter children, Cheryl Duke and Tim DeCoue; her parents, Georgia and Herb Brandt of Brose­ley; and three sisters, Mrs. Betty Berger of St. Louis, Mrs. Virgin­ia Rohlfing of Floris­sant and Mrs. Mary Lou Collier of Hazelwood, MO.

Edna Adams Finley Burton Burk

 Edna Finley Burk, 91, of McDougal, AR,  died on Thursday, January 12,2006, in the Piggott Com­munity Hospital in Piggott.

 She was born June 24, 1914, in Monette, AR, the daughter of the late Harry and Mattie (Koster) Adams.
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Vance Finley, Homer Burton and Hurl Burk; one infant son, Gerald Finley; one son,  Jairn Finley; and one sister, Essie Jackson.
 
She is survived by two children, Worlene Parrish and Rick Finley, both of McDougal; eight grandchildren, Terry Parrish, Su­san Read, Misty Micenhamer,. Cindy Roberts, J. Finley, Mike Finley, Ray Finley and Kelly Smith; several great-grandchil­dren; three great-great-grandchil­dren; one brother, Woodrow Adams of McDougal; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
 
Burial followed in the Post Oak Cemetery in McDougal, AR.

Ozie Grissom Turner Burkheart

 Ozie Turner Burkheart, 99, of Piggott died Monday, October 31, 2005, in Piggott.

 She was born July 1, 1906, in Crockett, AR,  the daughter of the late Jimmy and Dora Foster Grissom.
 
She was united in marriage to Cecil Charlie Turner, he preceded her in death on April 29, 1962. She married Dillard Burkheart and he preceded her in death in 1990.
 
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Faye McGee; one son, Darrell Turner; four sis­ters and two brothers.
 
She is survived by eight chil­dren, Lillian Wood of Jonesboro, Dora Lee Sample of Victorville, CA, Charlene Allen of Rector, Jack Turner of Florissant, MO, Juanita Haley, Jean Moore, Aldion Turner and Frankie Turner, all of Piggott; two stepdaughters, Shirley Gower of Arizona and Leona Brackett of Michigan; two stepsons, Charles Burkheart of Illinois and Donald Burkheart of AR; 27 grandchildren; 42 great~grandchildren; 13 great­great-grandchildren; special caregivers, Wanda Ward, Janet Randolph and Garnetta Galyean; and other relatives and friends.

Ella Pauline Buie Burnside

 Ella Pauline Burnside, 96, of Piggott, formerly of Walnut Ridge, AR,  died Saturday, September 27, 2003, at Piggott Community Hospital.

 She was born February 14, 1907, in Ethridge, TN, the daughter of the late Bufford and Ella Ann Hardin Buie.
 
She was united in marriage on November 23, 1941, in Walnut Ridge to Ervin E. Burnside, who preceded her in death on August 4, 1988.
 
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Hoxie, AR.
 
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Ray Buie in 1995; and one sister, Ethel Austin in 1994.
 
Survivors include two sisters, Clara Kowen of Pollard, AR,  and Verle Walker of Rockford, IL; several nieces and nephews; and many relatives and friends.
 
Internment in Whittaker Cemetery near Walnut Ridge.

Clara Throgmorton Burris

Clara Burris, 89, of Piggott died Thursday, May 9, 2002, at the Piggott Nursing Center.

 She was born April 6, 1913, in Crockett, AR,  the daughter of the late Rolla and Jane Elizabeth Brandon Throgmorton.
 
She married William Kurn "W.K." Burris on December 23,1928. To this union four children were born.
 
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, Delbert and Albert Throgmorton, and one sister, Maudie Brawner.
 
She was a member of the Church of Christ in Greenway, AR.
 
She is survived by two sons, Donald Burris of Piggott and Dean Burris of Camdenton, MO; two daughters, Oneda Sue Hollis of Piggott and Carolyn Harris of Jonesboro; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lura Turman and Ethel Bryant of Hot Springs, AR; and many other relatives and friends.

Alma Faye Williams Burton

Alma Faye Williams Burton, 64, of Eureka, MO, died May 13, 2002.
 
Born in Brooklyn, she was a graduate of Campbell High School. She married in 1954 and had been a resident of Eureka for many years.
 
A homemaker who excelled with craft work, she was hired as a functional aide at Marymount Manor Nursing Center in 1991. She was fond of spending time with her close friends and family and her poodle Princess.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Burton.
 
She is survived by her children, Sharon K. (Tom) Phillips, Donna E. (Tom) Hance, Debbie F. (Steve) Berner, Cathy E. (Randy) Johnson and Donnie L. Burton Jr., all of Eureka; siblings, Carl Williams and Betty Birmingham of AR, Virl Williams of IL and Darlene Garner of Holt's Summit, MO; grandchildren, Kim, Melissa, Amy, Kenny, Chris, Stevie, Kelsey and Devon; and great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Madison.
 
Burial was in Sunset Cemetery.

Hershel D. Busby

Hershel D. Busby, 77, of Piggott died Wednesday, August 8, at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Cen­ter in Poplar Bluff, MO.

 

He was born June 18, 1924, in Piggott, the son of the late Ira and Elsie Warren Busby.

He married Ruth M. Frederick on November 9, 1946, at the Greenway Church of Christ.

 

He was a World War II Army veteran and was an electrician. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 4517 and Disabled American Veterans.

 

He was preceded in death by one sister.

 

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; one brother, Herbert Ray Busby of AL: several nieces and nephews; and many other rela­tives and friends.

 

Burial in Piggott Cemetery, Piggott, AR.
