Ernest Lee "Dick" Hall
Ernest Lee "Dick" Hall, 78, of Piggott, died Thursday, July 27, 2006, at his home.
He was born January 12, 1928, in Morrilton, the son of the late Andy and Claudia Cook Hall.
He was united in marriage to Patti Casper on September 18, 1959.
He was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Piggott.
He is survived by his wife, Patti Hall of Piggott; one son, Leroy Hall and wife, Brenda, of Pine Bluff, AR; one daughter, Claudia Lea and husband Jim of Cleveland, TX; one grandson, Ross Lea and wife Kari, of Sutton, AK; one granddaughter, Ginger Blacksmith and husband, Chris, of Greenbrier; six great-grandchildren, Andrew and Audrey Blacksmith, and Sarah, Hannah, Drak, and Jonathon Lea; his church families in Piggott and Zapata, TX, and many other relatives and friends.

Nancy Gunnells Hall
Nancy Gunnells Hall, 56, of Piggott died Wednesday, January 5, 2005, in the Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, TN.
She was born October 1, 1948, in McDougal, AR, the daughter of Emett and Geneva Trammell Gunnells.
She was united in marriage to Bruce Hall on February 14, 1987.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce Hall, of Piggott; father, Emett Gunnels and wife, Jennine of Knobel, AR; mother, Geneva Schebor and husband, Chet, of Mio, MI; three children, Candy Sivaris and husband, Kevin, of Whittemore, MI, Tommy Corbin and wife, Michelle, St. Clair Shores, MI, and Jeff Ryan of Houston, TX; her sisters and brother, Betty Runyon of Whittemore, MI, Bonnie Aschenbrenner and husband, Dennis, of Howell, MI, Debbie Rolland and husband, James, of Port Richey, FL, Brenda Phillips of Rolla, MO, and Jerry Gunnels of Grayland, MI; and other relatives and friends.

Philip Brandon Hamilton
Philip Brandon Hamilton, 21, of Greenway, AR, died Monday, February 7, 2005, in Greenway.
He was born December 15, 1983, in Piggott, the son of Eddie Hamilton and Karen Burdin.
He is survived by his mother, Karen Winchester, of Greenway; his father and step-mother, Eddie and Jenny Hamilton of Piggott; maternal grandparents, Alvie and Zell Burdin of Piggott; paternal grandparent, Christine Hamilton of Rector, AR; one sister, Jenifer Dawes and husband, Shannon, of Greenway; great-grandmother, Vivian Stevenson of Damascus, AR; and other relatives and friends.

Claybourne Nelson Hamon, III
Claybourne Nelson Hamon, III, 56 of Piggott, died Thursday, December 18, 2003 in the Piggott Community Hospital.
He was born November 24, 1947, in Corpus Christi, TX, the son of Claybourne Nelson Hamon, Jr., and Martha Ann Bradsher Hamon.
Preceding him in death was his father, Claybourne Nelson Hamon, Jr.
He is survived by his mother, Martha Ann Hamon of Piggott; one half-sister in CA; and other relatives and friends.

Bobby Jean Harber
Bobby Jean Harber, 72, formerly of Rector, AR, died Monday, May 12, 2003.
He was born February 1, 1931, in Clay County, the son of the late Louie and Grace Harber.
At a young age of 24, he accepted the call to God's ministry and since that time had touched thousands of lives. He has pastored many churches during this tenure. In 1976, he made a commitment to serve the wonderful people who were refugees of the Vietnam War "H'Mong, Lao, Thai, Cambodian."
Mr. Harber was instrumental in establishing 20 Asian/American churches, primarily in California. The ministry aslo included three Spanish/American churches and two African/American churches in the greater Los Angels area.
He was instrumental in opening the door for the H/Mong students in Mount Olive College and Oakland City College in Indiana. He also played a large part in making the Christ on Bible available to the H'Mong people in their own language, with help from his wife, Dollie.
Mr. Harber was named an honorary citizen of Laos and received an honorary doctorate from the Lao Evangelical Church.
He developed a dictionary of Christian terms in the H'Mong language. In Sonora, CA, he spoke annually at the Lao Evangelical church youth camp at which 40-50 youth were baptized each summer.
In 1966 retirement was considered by Mr. Harber, and he relocated to Belhaven, NC. In Belhaven, he began pastoring Sidney Free Will Baptist Church.
After four years and much church growth in NC, he yearned to return to the mission field. In the year 2000, he accepted the charge to pastor a General Baptist Church in Zephyrhills, FL. The church grew from eight members to an excess of 100 members at the time of his passing.
He was preceded in death by a brother and his first wife.
He is survived by his wife, Dollie; seven children, Cathy Jane Norred of Piggott, Denny Jones of Conway, Mike Jones of Paragould, Teresa Jackson of Southern Pines, NC, Larry Harber of Memphis, TN, Pam Campos of CA and Donald Harber of FL; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Melvin Barton Harker
Melvin Barton Harker, 84, of Piggott, died Thursday, June 5, 2003, in the Piggott Community Hospital.
He was born March 4, 1919, in Boone, IN, the son of the late Fred and Bessie Nelson Harker.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
He is survived by one sister, Wanda Lawrence of IL; a very special friend, Maxine Hudson; and other relatives and friends.

Delane Harrell
Delane Harrell, 44 of Piggott, died Thursday, June 9, 2005, in the Piggott Community Hospital.
He was born September 17, 1960, in Kennett, MO, the son of the late Paul and Jean Turner Harrell.
He was united in marriage to Tonya Broadway.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Dickie Lee Harrell, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Tonya Harrell of PIggott; two sons, Christopher Harrell and Jason Harrell; two stepsons, William Nixon and Greg Nixon; one stepdaughter, Kim Nixon; three brothers, David Harrell and wife Debbie, of Piggott, Dickie Harrell and wife, Marlene, of Greenup, IL, and Doyce Harrell and wife, Cheryl of Bentonville, AR; one sister, Debby McNeeley and husband, Don, of Pollard; one grandson; 11 nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Ruby E. Mark Harrington
Ruby E. Harrington, 84, of Piggott, died Sunday, November 25, 2001 at Piggott Community Hospital.
She was born November 25, 1917, in New Madrid County, MO, the daughter of Rev. Guy and Laura Callow Mark.
She married E.J. Harrington, who preceded her in death. She was of the Baptist belief.
She is survived by a brother, Bill Mark and wife, Pat, of St. Louis; two sisters, Dolly Martin of St. Charles, MO, and Julia Downey and husband, Joe of Kansas City, MO; and many other relatives and friends.

Joyce Marie Douglas Hartgroves
Joyce Marie Hartgorves, 57, of Piggott, died Tuesday, December 9, 2003, in St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, AR.
She was born April 22, 1946, in Paragould, the daughter of the late Garfield and Stella Mae Davidson Douglas.
She was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Wesley Hartgroves; and two sisters, Ida Mae Simms and Magaline Douglas.
She is survived by three daughters, Sharon Whitten of Pollard, Sandra Hartgroves of Paragould and Julie Anne Stanfill of Piggott; seven grandchildren, Joseph, Cody, Nicholas, Cheyenn, Jonathan, Logan and Daniel Wesley; one sister, Faye West of Midland, TX; the father of her children, Wesley Hartgroves; a very special friend, Michael Neff of Piggott; and other relatives and friends.

Samantha Hartlove, 14, of Clarkton, MO, died Wednesday, July 10, 2002, in the Children's Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
She was born March 5, 1988, in French Camp, CA.

Pauline Hood Hartsfield
Pauline Hartsfield, 79, of Rector, died Sunday July 20, 2003, at Piggott Community Hospital.
She was born September 17, 1923, in Craighead County, AR, the daughter of the late Doyle Hood and Lee (Drafton) Hood.
She was a homemaker, a member of Rector Extension Homemakers Club, and was of the Baptist faith.
She married Fred Hartsfield on February 12, 1938. He preceded her in death on December 23, 1991.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, and two grandchildren, Brandee Hartsfield and Doyle Hartsfield.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Lucill Hartsfield of Piggott and Billy and Betty Hartsfield of Boydsville, AR; five brothers, John Hood of Eolia, MO, Howard Hood of Eldon, MO, and Darrell Hood, Byron Hood and Ronnie Hood, all of Licking, MO; four sisters, Carol Wantland of Raymondville, MO, Barbara Hood and Alma Booker of Licking, MO, and Francis Dixon of Eolia, MO; four grandchildren, Billy Fred Hartsfield of Piggott, Brent Hartsfield of Conway, Brad Hartsfield of Porter, OK and Gerald Hartsfield of Boydsville; and nine great-grandchildren, Austin, Hayden, Holden, Gage, Colton, Wesley, Shelby, Dillan, and Kaylee.

Floyd Wayne Hartwick
Floyd Wayne Hartwick, 77, of Washington, MO, formerly of Piggott, died Monday, October 8, 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Mae (Barr) Hartwick; three sons, Danny Hartwick, Rodney Wallis and wife, Stacey, and Butch Campbell and wife, Debbie; seven daughters, Barbara Bell, and husband, Stephen, Priscilla Sodoma and husband, Mike, Robin Darnell, Debbie Waugh, Cindy Birdnow, Debbie Wassilak and husband, Danny, and Brenda Pogue and husband, Ervin; one brother, Linuell Pugh, and wife, Velma; two sisters, Velma Potts and husband, Pete, and Modena Potts; 25 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Everette Ray Harwood
Everette Ray Harwood, 80, of Swartz Creek, MI, died Saturday, May 21, 2005, at his residence.
He was born on February 18, 1925, in Piggott, the son of William and Elsie (Mann) Harwood.
Mr. Harwood served in the US Marines during WWII, in the South Pacific Theater Third Marine Division. He was a sergeant for the Flint Police Department retiring in 1974 after 25 years of service.
He was involved with many organizations including, Genesee Masonic Lodge 174, Valley of Bay City Scottish Rite, past Potentate of Elf Khurafeh Shriners, past president of Oasis Shrine Club, Royal Order of Jesters Court 74, and a charter member of F.O.P. Arrowhead Lodge 126 and V.F.W. Post 3720.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Tucker.
Survivors include a son, Michael Harwood and wife, Connie, of Owosso, MI; a brother Don Harwood and wife, Jane of Swartz Creek, MI; five grandchildren, Sam, Sean, and Monica, all of Owosso, MI, Nikole Mullen and husband, Robby, of Cleburne, TX, and Corey Tucker and wife, Amiee, of Indian Trail, NC; two great-granddaughters, Rylee and Kamryn; two nephews, Matt Harwood and wife, Phyllis, of Novi, MO, and Steven Harwood and wife, Kim of Grand Blan, MI; and one niece, Susie Mitchell and husband, Rick, of Gaines, MI.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Swartz Creek, MI, with a miltary graveside service, under the auspices of the Flint Detachment 155 Marine Corps League.
Ronald Edward Hasty
Ronald Edward Hasty, 66 of Piggott, died Wednesday, November 30, 2005, in the Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott.
He was born September 25, 1939 in Middle Brooke, MO, the son of the late Jake Hasty and Gertrude Hasty.
He was united in marriage to Margie Kinney on October 28, 1972 in St. Louis.
Mr. Hasty was a forklift operator at Wise in Piggott and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Hasty of Piggott; two sons, David Satterfield of Dallas, TX and Steve Satterfield of Piggott; two daughters, Brenda Satterfield of Fairdealing, MO and Melinda Satterfield of Salem, MO; three sisters, Irene and husband, Raymond, Cathy and Janie; four grandchildren, Jason Satterfield, Crystal Satterfield, David Satterfield, and Steven Satterfield, all of TX; and two great-grandchildren, Sebastian Satterfield and Jordon Satterfield, both of TX.
Maye Ann Thrasher Hatch
Glen Leon Hatcher
Glen Leon Hatcher, 70, died February 27, 2000. He was born January 9, 1930, the son of the late Erwin and Lucille Hatcher of Rector, AR.
He attended school in Piggott, where he lived with his family. He was nicknamed "Shakespeare" by his friends.
In 1950, he moved to Pontiac, MI, where he met his wife, Dorothy Jeanine Smith. They were married on January 9, 1951, and to this union 5 children were born.
He was a dedicated Christian who taught the gospel where ever and whenever possible. He preached for the Churches of Christ in MI, OR, ID, and MT.
He and his wife were fulltime "RV'ers" during the past 10 years and visited Clay County many times. They made friends in all the states.
He was also preceded in death by his stepfather Earl Stahl, and brother Don Hatcher and wife Agnes Howell Hatcher.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Steven (Sharon) Hatcher, Mark (Brenda) Hatcher, and Scott Hatcher, all of ID, and Michael Hatcher of TX; daughter Sherrie (Michael) Richards of NE; 10 grandchildren; brothers, Norris Gene (Wanda) Hatcher of TN, Roy E. (Donis) Hatcher of MI, and Louis W. (Marion) Hatcher of TX.
Christine Mason Hatley
Christine Mason Hatley, 79, a long-time resident of San Jose, CA, died on Jan 21, 2006 in San Jose.
She was born July 31, 1926, in Hickoria, AR, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. C.R. Mason.
Mrs. Hatley was baptized into the Methodist Church at Knobel as a young woman.
She was a homemaker and a teacher. She earned a B.S.E. degree in elementary education from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, AR, in 1951 and took several continuing education courses while teaching in the San Jose schools.
She began her teaching career in Knobel at age 17. She also taught in Boydsville, AR, Memphis, TN, Livonia, MI, and San Jose, CA. She held a Lifetime Teaching Certificate. Mrs. Hatley retired from teaching in 1987. She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard, but she was happiest when surrounded by her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.R. Mason of Knobel; three brothers, C.R. Mason, Jr., Jeff Mason and Thad Mason; a great-niece, Peyton Lytle; a sister-in-law, Colleen Carruthers; two nephews, Jerry Walden and Mike Walden; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. H. Hatley.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Calvin Hatley; a son, Alan Hatley; a daughter, Carolyn Burton and husband, Sam; three grandsons, Matthew Hatley, Dan Burton, and Scott Burton; two sisters, Geraldine Stayton of Pocahontas, AR, and Jacquelyn Pogue of Piggott; sister-in-law, Carolyn Mason of Knobel; brother-in-law, James Hatley and wife, Wanda, of Orlando, FL; sister-in-law, Nita Cox and husband, Gene, of St. Louis, MO; brother-in-law, Euell Hatley of Maynard, AR; sister-in-law Anne Murray and husband, Aubrey, of St. Louis; sister-in-law Bonnie Ford of Pocahontas; brother-in-law Carl Hatley of Corning, AR; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

James Clifton Earl "Bud" Hawkins
Longtime Piggott businessman James Clifton Earl "Bud" Hawkins, 82, died Thursday, May 11, 2006, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO.
Hawkins was introduced to the jewelry business while serving in the US Marine Corps, where he did watch repair, starting in 1945.
Following his discharge, he began working at Hooker's Jewelry in Poplar Bluff in 1946. He remained with the store for 11 years. In January of 1957, he purchased a jewelry store in Piggott, from Hooker.
He owned the store until January 1974, when he sold the business to Jack Evans. Subsequent owners of the shop included Anna Eaton and Ruth Yametz, Norma Haskins, and Gaye Wiley.
Hawkins continued to work for each of the store managers doing repair work until he opened another shop on Main Street in September of 1984. He later moved back onto the courtsquare on South Second St.
Although his shops were in Piggott, Hawkins resided in Poplar Bluff and commuted to work.
He later moved to Doniphan, MO, where he resided until his death.
Hawkins was born on March 21, 1924 in Success, AR.
He was a veteran, serving in the US Marine Corps during WWII from December 27, 1943 through July 9, 1946. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He enjoyed spending time with his family, rebuilding cars, and attending auctions.
On November 29, 1947, he married Elsie Schenewerk. She preceded him in death on October 16, 1998.
He is survived by four daughters, Glenda Robinson of Lincolnton, NC, Brenda Russell of Poplar Bluff, MO, Deborah Roy of Doniphan, MO, and Peggy Hawkins of Neelyville, MO; two sons, Gene Kirby of Dexter, MO and Tony Hawkins of Poplar Bluff; one brother, Elbert Hawkins of Corning; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Burial with full military honors, at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff, MO.
Charles Lewis Hayden
Charles Lewis Hayden, 80, a retired teacher and coach, died May 21, 1998, at Columbia North Hills Hospital in Arlington, TX.
He was born December 14, 1917, in St. Francis, AR, and graduated from Piggot High School as a star athlete.
He attended Santa Clara College in CA, graduated from Arkansas State College and received a masters degree in education from Sul Ross State University.
He served in WWII with the 11th Airborne Division in the South Pacific and was awarded five Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart, and Presidential Unit Citation.
After the war, he began his teaching and coaching career in Newport before moving to Arlington in 1959, where he taught and coached until his retirement from the Arlington ISD in 1978.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years Allien Carter Hayden, originally from Evening Shade, AR; two daughters, Janette Haywood and husband, Paul, of Denton, TX and Jonia Hayden of Dallas, TX; two sons, Russ Hayden and wife, Michele, of San Antonio, TX, and Ronnell Hayden and fiancee, Karen Bridal, of New York; two nieces; two nephews; and seven grandchildren.
Burial in Moore Memorial Gardens.
Billie Evelyn Smith Hayes
Billie Evelyn Smith Hayes, 86, died on Thursday, November 17, 2005, at her daughter's home in Indian River, MI.
She was born on Christmas Day, 1918 to William and Grace Smith in Piggott.
Mrs. Hayes grew up with one sister and three brothers, moving to Flint, MI, after graduating from Piggott High School in 1935. She worked at the Willow Run Bomber Plant until St. Patricks' Day 1945, which she married the love of her life, Larry. They moved to Gaylord and operated a restaurant famous for her chicken dinners. They built the Hayes Motel (now the Friendship Shelter), which she operated after Larry's death in 1966 until selling it in 1972.
She was a life member of the Eagles Auxiliary Number 1825 Arie, RSVP Friends for Life and Otsego Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Gracy Smith; husband, Larry Hayes; brother, William Smith; a sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Henry Robinson; a sister-in-law, Gloria Smith; nephews, Jerry Lee Robinson, Michael Smith and Bill Dubenion; and her beloved canine companion, Molly.
Survivors include her children, Pamela Hayes of Gaylord, MI, Linda (Terry) Wiseley of Indian River, MI, Norman (Mary) Hayes of Elk Rapids, MI, and Larry (Connie) Hayes of Gaylord, MI; grandchildren, Melissa (Kevin) Olds of Virginia Beach, VA, Christina Wishart of Los Angeles, CA, Philip, Natalie and Nicole Hayes of Elk Rapids, MI, Larry (Lisa) Hayes of Gaylord, MI, Shelley (Fred) Blankenship of Alpena, MI, David (LaTonya) Hayes of Flushing, MI, Kim (Robb) Pickard of Middleville, MI, and Corey Wiseley of South Haven, MI; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Corey, Caitlin and Caleb Blankenship, Jordan Hayes, Brendan, Booklin and Justin Hayes, Michael and Sarah Wiseley and Beau Pickard.
She is also survived by her brothers, Ernest Smith of Lake Fenton, MI, and Robert (Clara) Smith of Summerfield, FL; sister-in-law, Peggy Smith of Louisville, KY; nieces and nephews, Jim (Fran) Robinson, Larry (Shannon) Robinson, Sandy (Jacob Allen) Green, Bil Smith, Becky Debenion, Nancy (Wally) Oyler, Mark Smith, Marsha (Mark) Engelbrecht, Rachel (Jay) Kinney; several great-grandnieces and nephews, special friends, Bill and Dona Wishart, and many life-long friends from Gaylord.
Cremated in Michigan.
